Sensory sensitivities on the bus
I Stumbled Upon this YouTube video and wondered if it could be accurate. I was sceptical that’s for sure. So I watched it. The sound sensitivity part was very much like it can be for me. The people all up right in front of the man’s face. I know what that is like. They left out smell, though! A smelly bus can ruin everything.
But despite the potential for an overwhelming time, I really like public transport.
What I would like to see is a video of an autistic person going grocery shopping. If anyone wants some footage of this, I can provide lots of it. 
The look on the face of the man left sitting on the bus made me laugh!
Some things in that series of video struck me as very accurate, and some… uh… I guess are “artistic interpretation”… like that weird swooshy camera effect. I refer to it jokingly as “AUTIE-VISION!”
Of course, there’s no good way to portray stinky-bus in a video (maybe we should be grateful about that. I, for one, do not wish for smell-o-vision)
There’s also no way to easily portray in video intense discomfort at physical proximity. I cannot go on a bus unless I have someone I am comfortable with to sit next to, the physical proximity to someone I am not comfortable with is VERY upsetting.
Fleecy, I agree with you about physical proximity. Sometimes I stand up rather than sit next to someone.
And sitting next to someone smelly and loud – the worst!
